Club Contest Winners

Humorous Speech Contest

And the winner is… Larissa Chevalier
Larissa had a funny speech about her adventures in France. We don’t want to give away too much because she will be competing at the Area level with the same speech. It was very entertaining.

Table Topics Contest

And the winner is… Rebecca Halbe, ACS, CL
Rebecca (Becky) came in first and we had three other strong contestants: Sterling Neilson, Teresa Bradford and Larissa Chevalier. The question was, “If you could have any view from your back porch what would it be?” Becky loves the wilderness where she canoes but is tired of portaging canoes back and forth. She wants that pristine view at her back porch. She made good use of the space, gestures, and vocal variety.

New Member Brooke Leonard

Becky Halbe and Brooke LeonardNew member Brooke Leonard performed a triple play at our meeting today.
  1. She gave a delightful Ice Breaker speech talking about her adventures in Russia.  Her speech took us from three day parties to surviving the cold of Siberia by living with clowns.
  2. She participated in and won our Table Topics competition.
  3. She was our Grammarian of the day and shared some new ideas about some of the crutch words we use.

You can see our club president, Becky Halbe (left) presenting Brooke with her Table Topics award.

Anne Coddington gave her Ice Breaker speech today.

Anne CoddingtonOne of our newest members, Anne Coddington, gave her Ice Breaker speech today.  It’s hard to believe from the picture but she told us later that she was scared to death to stand in front of the room full of people we had Wednesday.  Anne jumped right in by using the White Board to tell us about herself.  She left us wanting to hear more about her life in future speeches.

New Members

We gained 3 new members after the last meeting and two of them gave their Icebreaker speeches at our April 27th meeting.  We had an induction ceremony for two of the new members.  Below you can see (left to right) new member Lisa Fitzpatrick, club president Wayne Thume, and new member Roman Torres.
